The Adventure of Link was the second outing on the Nintendo Entertainment System, or the Famicom in Japan. In Japanese the name was , which roughly translates to Hyrule Fantasy: Adventure of Link.

This is certainly not an easy game, and it was a complete step aside from what had previously been dealt with in a Zelda game, taking a more RPG route than in its previous iteration The Adventure of Link is known as the black sheep of the series. This is owing to the fact that it is more level up based, with random battles and a very different battle system, and also due to the fact that its arguably the most difficult game in the series.

The Adventure of Link is often used as a test of faith in the Zelda fandom, as not a lot of people have completed the game owing to the fact that its very challenging and because its very different to normal Zelda games.

It has become harder to get your hands on a copy of the NES original; however, it has subsequently come out on the Collectors Edition on the Gamecube, the NES Classics/Famicom Mini on the GBA and on the Virtual Console across the board now.
