Our Hero, Link, may be just that, a hero, but even hero's need to rest and recover from the injuries that they have sustained battling to save Zelda and Hyrule from destruction. There are only a few ways of doing this, finding hearts, drinking a potion or going to see a Fairy. There are two types of Fairy in The Legend of Zelda, the floating Fairy who will help restore life, and the Fairy Fountain.

The Fairy Fountain can be used as many times as needed, and is always in the same place. So if at any time Link needs more health, just head to one of these areas and the life force will be recovered.

All directions are from the Start screen unless otherwise noted.

Fairy Fountain 1

To gain access to the first Fairy Fountain head east one screen, north two screens, east one screen and then north two screens and you'll see a Fairy waiting in the water. Go right up next to the water to have your health recovered.

Fairy Fountain 2

The second fairy fountain is a little easier to get to, head west one screen, north one screen, west three screens and then north two screens. Again a Fairy is waiting for you, and again you need to go right up to the water's edge to have your health restored.
